How Do I Have a Child Receive First Communion

When Jesus was at table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him (Luke 24:30-31).

First Eucharist -- commonly referred to as "First Communion" -- is a special opportunity for girls and boys to grow in their relationship with God and to enter more deeply into the communal celebration of the Eucharist as the primary source of our faith.

At Immaculate Conception, First Communion will next be celebrated on Sunday, May 5, 2019 during the 11:00 am Mass.

To be eligible for making one's First Communion at Immaculate Conception Parish, a candidate:

  • must be in at least the 2nd grade
  • must attend Sunday Mass regularly
  • must be in the process of completing a 2nd full year of catechetical instruction in either a Catholic school or PSR program
  • if not a registered parishioner of Immaculate Conception Parish, must have written permission to celebrate the sacrament with us from the pastor of the family's home parish.
